The time has come… for us to announce our next meeting! It will take place at 4pm on the 30th January in HumSS280. Here is Jacob’s abstract:

We all lip-sync, whether amateurishly in our bedrooms or in the car on the way to work, but drag queens have forged a credible profession from the practice. But why lip-sync? What benefits does lip-sync offer? Throughout this paper, I will explore the self-actualising processes evident in lip-sync performance, a twin act of listening and ventrioloquism as it is, analysing my subjects through a Foucauldian and Kittlerian lens of psychoanalytical and media theory.
